More ECO. More future.

ECO is a program for energy efficiency begun by EDP whose objective is to change attitudes and behaviours, to put our consciences to work and to make Portugal more energy efficient.

Begun in 2007, the ECO Programme helped reduce consumption by 407.706 MWh, or in other words, the equivalent of the energy consumed annually by 150,000 families, at a savings of 43 million euros.

In 2008, EDP invested 7 million euros in measures to promote energy efficiency, with the goal of preventing the release of 182.222 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere. The initiatives in store for this year’s action plan were to generate savings totalling 47 million euros in the electricity bills to be paid for both home and industrial electricity use.
